A Marine's Wife

A Marine's wife is full of glory
She sees in his eyes his full life story
She's a patient woman of great understanding
She states her opinions and is rarely demanding
In moments of sadness or unexpected sorrow
She'll liven the day for a better tomorrow
She gives him warmth when his life is cold
For he holds the key to her heart of gold
Her ultimate test of being a Marine Corps wife
Is bearing the absence of the man in her life
"My duty comes first," she remembers him saying.
"I may go abroad, but for you I'll be praying."
Her reward will come, very soon one day
When her Marine comes home for a lengthy stay
For this is their castle,
She is the queen
A very proud wife,
Wife of a U.S. Marine.

A Wife's Prayer for her Marine

Courtesy of Leatherneck Magazine
Dear Heavenly Father,
Now the evening shadows gather, the lonely night is here.
This day which has been so empty is almost gone.
Oh Dear God, be with my husband who is so far from home.
Help him when the thoughts of his loved ones bring the awful heartache on.
Lord, let him know that with Your ever-lasting love, You are right beside him
With Your loving mercy from above.
Help him with his heartache, with the closeness of a friend, a smile of understanding.
It will lift the burden from his heart.
Let him also be a blessing to one who needs him.
Let him feel the prayers of his loved ones whose thoughts are always with him.
And, Dear God, when the tide has turned against him,
His whole world seems upside down,
Let him see things more clearly.
Show him how to love Thee more dearly.
Let his faith in Thee stay unbroken.
Inspire him with new courage every day so that he will soon be with us.
Make him strong to run the race.
Amen

Daddy, Daddy

Daddy, Daddy, today I turned three
you helped celebrate with me.
Its also the day you left for a far away land
to a place called Vietnam.

Daddy, Daddy, today I'm seven
A lot of people say you've gone to heaven.
I heard Mommy saying something about MIA,
I'll never forget this awful day.

Daddy, Daddy, today I'm nine
just wanted to tell you that I'm doing fine.
Don't worry, I'm really okay
but I sure miss you, each and every day

Daddy, Daddy, today I'm sixteen
had my first date, his name is Gene,
We went to a high school dance,
maybe its the start of my first romance.

Daddy, Daddy, today I'm twenty-three
A very special man wants to marry me.
Oh, how I wish you could walk me down the aisle
just you and me, Daddy, together for awhile.

Daddy, Daddy, your grandson turned two.
I'm proud to say that I named him after you.
He's such a delight, this precious baby boy
I want you to be here to share in our joy.

Daddy, Daddy, today I'm twenty-five
God above I pray you're still alive
Far away, held against your will
I won't forget you, I love you still.

Daddy, Daddy, all these years we never got to share
all because our government doesn't seem to care.
How can they leave you and your friends?
For all of us, the waiting never ends.

GOD BLESS MY MARINE
by Diane Sarlow

God bless my Marine, and keep him safe for me,
Whether in the air, on land or on the sea.
God bless my Marine, and bring him safely home,
Guide my letters to him, so he won't feel alone.
God bless my Marine when I'm not by his side;
Please let him know I love him and let him feel my pride.
And when he does come home, and better days are seen;
I'll always thank you, God, for blessing my Marine.

I Married the Marine Corps

Oh, I am a Marine wife.
I know because I see
That everywhere I go now
That is my identity.

I love my Marine so much,
It is him that I ded marry
But without my trusty ID card
I can't go to the commissary.

I stood there at the altar
Thinking I would be his wife
But he had already said I DO
And made the Marines his life.

In my heart I know just how he feels
I know I am his only,
But when he left to do his thing
I felt so sad and lonely.

I was never one to do things the easy way
So I married a Marine.
I knew a husband could get on your nerves
So I have one that is seldom seen.

It is like the eternal honeymoon
Gone for days and then comes home.
When he is on my very last nerve
They take him somewhere to roam.

If I did not like his leaving-
His command would say "Who cares?"
A wife is not issued in boot camp-
Along with his other wares.

So, I married the Marine Corps
The Brotherhood of Men.
I know he will come home soon
But I hurry up and wait until then.

I thought it was you...
~Courtney~

Today I heard your voice behind me
And turned to you with a smil.
Can't believe I misplaced that sound,
Even though it's been a while.

Yesterday I laughed out loud
And turned to tell you why.
Too late, I remembered the truth,
As a tear came to my eye.

Even now I see your face
And feel your arms holding me tight.
Yet your shadow flees at my touch
For I am alone tonight.

Someday I'll turn and you'll be there.
Your smile - your face - will be real
I'll put my arms around you and know-
This is the way love was meant to feel.

Teresa Epperson, Proud Air Force Wife

Tween fixing dinner and homework today
the pipes burst in a waterfall spray
my kids school called, she was in trouble
'get here tomorrow on the double'
my son fell and hit his head
to top it off the goldfish is dead
the stair lights popped and went to black
I stepped on a toy and threw out my back
The dryer broke, the car is squeeking
(I just KNOW that oil is leaking)
My daughter sobs" I miss my dad!"
Comforting her makes my 2 year old mad
he whips a car at my ear
(for THAT a small pop on the rear!!)
they eat, I bathe em, I put em to bed
"I need water" they both said
A drink, the potty, tucked back in
this, of course, once AGAIN
My back is sore, in need of a rub
I grab a towel and head for the tub
There, with Calgon, a book, and some wine
I think to myself."Things will be fine"
But when hubby returns to relaxation
I'M leavin I'll NEED the vacation!!

In You I Have It All

I need you by my side
As I take these daily strides.
Through life's many tribulations
I hope you'll be here for the duration.
I look to you for strength and support
Somedays I'll need less and others more.
We took our vows one special day
We'll be together forever, I'm proud to say.
You are my love, my life, my friend
We'll stand by one another to the end.
When times get rough we know who to call
In one another we have it all.

Married to the Corps
Author Unknown

She may not wear the uniform
But she stands proud and tall
Saying goodbye to the one she loves,
A lonely teardrop falls.
She knows her husband's doing
What life had borne him for
And she was to be waiting forever on the shore.
Holding on to dreams and photos,
Yellow ribbons and her heart.
War is not the only thing that keeps the two loves apart.
In peacetime too, she knows the call
Of duty soon to come.
And she must say goodbye again
'Fore the rising of the sun.
Her heart both breaks and beats with pride
As he walks out the door
And time drags on
'Till he comes hom
When your married to the Corps.

Loving a Marine

Loving a Marine is not always play;
Loving him truly is a high price to pay.
It's being alone with no one to hold,
It's being young and feeling so old.

It's having him whispering his love to you;
It's whispering back that you love him, too.
There comers a kiss and a promise of more,
and in his mind fond memories he will store.

Reluctantly, painfully, letting him go,
while your dying inside from wanting him so.
Watching him leave with eyes full of tears,
standing alone with your hopes, dreams and fears.

It's sending a letter with the stamp upside down,
to your far away love in a far away town.
It's going to church to kneel and pray,
and really meaning the things you say.

Weeks are like months, and months like years.
You wait for the day when you'll have no more fears.
Days go by slowly, how many have passed?
And suddenly you realize that it is here at last!

Yes, loving a Marine brings bitterness and fears,
Loneliness, sadness, and despondent years.
Loving a Marine isn't much fun,
But it is worth the price when the battle is won.

Military Wife's Life
Alexandra Benakis

The military wife has so much to bear,
She's everything at once, no one could compare,
When God made her, He had perfection in mind,
For nowhere on Earth is another of her kind,
She leads a life not many choose to,
For her job is the hardest in the military to do,
She is courageous and strong, one would say made of steel,
But way deep down is a heart that can feel,
She stands by her husband, so proud and so tall,
And waits many night by the phone for a call,
She's Mommy and Daddy all rolled into one,
She'll never rest easy until her job's done,
She sits all alone and in silence she weeps,
Did I do a good job, is my family okay?
can I make it alone through another day?
But deep in her heart she knows that it's true,
God is right beside her helping her through..

A Million Miles Away

A Marine by title~A Marine all day and night.
When will you have time to be a husband to your wife?
You will be there for her in spirit and always in her thoughts.
You try to make her happy, though the Corps twists your plans in knots.

A Marine's Wife by title~called a privelege by the few.
She'l stick by her husband, that's what she will do.
He may be at home or a million miles away,
But in his heart she will always stay.

He loves his wife, he loves the Corps.
He must make the m BOTH priority of course.
They work together as a couple to achieve a common goal.
Without support from one another~he'd be a bad Marine you know. :-}

My Daddy
Michelle

My Daddy is not with me today
He has gone to proudly serve.

In months my Daddy will be home.
Won't he be surprised to see how much I've grown.

We'll write letters and send lots of pictured,
Always sending our love while he is out on his adventures.

At night I'll kiss my Daddy's picture
And pray the Lord he will hold my Daddy tight.

My Only Love
Angela E. Wynne

I close my eyes
And I see your face;
I feel the love
Time nor distance could ever erase.

I sift through our memories,
Kept in mind and heart.
For I know, these alone
Will keep us close while we're apart.

Letting my thoughts wander
I hear your voice and feel your touch;
Remembering all the little things you do
To make me love you so much.

As I drift off to sleep,
I whisper to the one above
To please watch over you:
My Heart, My Life, My only Love.........

Necessary Separation

I watched as you left in November
To sail onto the sea.
I knew it was just as hard on you
As I watched you wave goodbye to me.

Until you left and that bus pulled out,
I could not shed one single tear.
Now you have been gone for 180 days
It has been half a year,

It feels like only yesterday.
I have kept myself so busy
Working at a pace that has kept me
Spinning until I was dizzy.

Now you are almost home
And I jsut can't believe
How long I thought I would have to miss you
As I waited for you to leave.

But now you are almost home my love
I think I've done really well
We have people to see when you are on leave
We have a truck to sell.

I thought six months would never pass
But they have flown because I knew
That you were my protector
And God was there for you.

There were times that I was worried,
I thought things would never end.
I knew you would be back to me
Because you are my best friend.

Separated Once Again
Michelle

Seperated once again,
Our lives are different though.

Our son has arrived bringing us so much joy.

I'll make sure you know everything,
Every smile, cry and noise.

You'll be in our thoughts and hearts everyday,
Anxiously waiting for your return on that special day.

You're our hero, don't you know,
And we will sure miss you when you go.

Don't be sad, we'll be alright,
Daniel's little Angel will watch over all three of us every night.
